Making the Most Out of the Day

With my stomach still upset, but less fragile than the previous days, I'm attempting to get work done along with taking care of my hair.  This will be another ALL day update.

Friday, 1:30 PM:
Per last night's update, I was contemplating doing an overnight treatment.  I sat on the couch one minute too many and became too tired to implement that idea.  So I woke up this morning and applied EVOO, did a brief massage, and baggied.  As I wore the cap, in between looking at PowerPoint files, I also looked at a few youtube vidoes and some threads on Long Hair Care Forums.  As I watched/read a few ideas ran through my mind - I wanted to deep condition, but I didn't feel like washing my hair first.  So I started planning out a dry hair deep condition.  That eventually lead me to thinking about a protein treatment.  I only used an egg about 4 weeks ago and that wasn't the best experience.  I decided to do the later.

On another note, looking through the forum of relaxed ladies with super long hair, confirmed that I am taking the right approach in my hair journey, if not doing too much.  It appears that DCing once a week, not using a lot of heat, and using protein at least once a month are the commonalities for hair retention and growth.  Yay!

I just washed with ApHogee Shampoo for Damaged Hair.  My hair felt SOOO nourished and moisturized while wetting and shampooing.  I absolutely love wetting my hair now.  I then applied ApHogee Protein Treatment very generously all over my hair.  I paid a lot of attention to my ends and edges. I prefer to let it air dry versus using a dryer.  The only thing I don't care for with a protein treatment is how sticky it can be.  I prefer to pour it directly out of the bottle into my hand, so it could be my own fault.  Either way, in about an hour or so, I'll rinse, use ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer and then apply my Silky Smooth DC mix.

Stay Tuned!

4:30 PM:
I like to put my hair in small bantu knots when conditioning.
I am now in the process of using ApHogee Balancing Moisturizer for 2 minutes.  When rinsing out the protein, my hair continued to feel VERY soft.  I absolutely love the feeling.  Next up on the agenda - SSDC mix followed by an hour of heat.  Also, I'm still trying to decide how I'll finish up.  Do I roller set?  Try the new braid out I loved?  Air dry?  The hubby and I are having a date night tonight, so my choice will be limited to whatever time allows.  I'm leaning towards roller set...

Saturday, 1 PM
Last night turned out to be a disaster... I sat under the heat for about 45 minutes and then rinsed.  My hair, didn't feel as soft as it had in previous rinses, but oh well.  Next I attempted a roller wrap, and not a traditional roller wrap, but it was more of rolling my hair into a style so it can dry while I get dressed.  I wanted to try to look extra special for the date : )  I also had found a youtube video that showed a roller set using honey... so you know I had to give it a try.

Rolling took about 30 minutes and the Hubby came home just as I was finishing up.  Little did I know, he expected to make the 7:30 show and it was already pushing 7 PM.  So I attempted to jump in the shower, made even more difficult with the rollers because I couldn't get my t-shirt off my head and I could barely get it into the bonnet.  I had to take off the rollers as soon as I got out of the shower and they were NO WHERE near dry.  Therefore, I had to blow dry my hair on high with heat and then flat iron...  I could definitely identify the few areas where I used TOO much honey, but overall it felt silky and had a nice bounce to it.  That night, I moisturized and sealed with the usual.

This morning, I got up, read for a little while and then began a short beauty treatment.  I put fresh paint on my toes, massaged JBCO on my scalp, and I'm finishing up my facial.
Don't ask me why I like to cover my eyebrows...
I'm not sure how I'll wear my hair out today, but I'm looking forward to having fun with my bestie Latoray!!!

11 PM
It's been a VERY long day of shopping and not much accomplished.  But at least the hair did okay. No touch up, no heat, just wore it however it chose to be worn.

  1. I dry condition all the time. I use the pre-conditioner by Kinky knots to precondition my hair, I really want you to try it, everybody I have introduced to it, has loved it. I may send you a sample but I have a link to the website on my staple products tab.
