Real Life Scenarios: Epilator - My BFF!!!

Update!  We are weeks into the spring/early summer season and I have not shaved once.  Nor have I had hairy legs.  Since my last post I have been uber consistent with my epilator and even upgraded my old one.  I've proven to myself that I can master the tool and felt confident enough to believe that I can epilate throughout the summer and not shave once.  My epilator has become my new bestie!

There are a few lessons that I've learned over the course of these few weeks and I want to share...

Lesson #1:  Hair Grows in Cycles, be Prepared
If you don't know this already, your hair grows in cycles.  That's why if you do laser hair removal or waxing or some other treatment that kills hair at the roots, you have to come back each cycle of hair growth in order for it to be effective.  At a point, if you keep removing it from the root, your hair will grow close to the same cycle and you can go longer and longer without the treatment.  At my current state, I still cannot go too long without plucking, but the good news is that it doesn't hurt nearly as bad as it used to.

Lesson #2: Exfoliate!
Plucking hair at the root also makes it prone to ingrown hairs for some reason.  I have no idea why it does it, but at one point I had ingrown hairs all over my legs.  Thankfully, there was a simple solution - exfoliate.  Exfoliating not only raised all of the ingrown hairs, but it also made me get the ashy dead skin off my legs and left me feeling silky smooth.  Oh and the body scrub smells SOOOO GOOD.  I smell yummy after I exfoliate.

Lesson #3: Some Parts Hurt No Matter What :(
I previously shared that baby powder made a difference when I epilated.  I no longer use baby powder and find that nice shower and a little exfoliation are all that I need.  However, some part are super sensitive no matter what I do and will just take time to deal with the pain.  One part being, my armpits.  No matter how much I prep or even how little hair is there, I can only stand it for a few seconds and it brings tears to my eyes every time.  I can do my entire legs no problem, however, those pits are not to be messed with.

Lesson #4: It Gets Easier
The biggest lesson that I learned is if I stick with it, it gets a heck of a lot easier.  Each time I have to epilate, there isn't as much hair, which means there isn't as much pain, with some parts not being in any pain at all.  But as the old saying goes, anything worth having is worth working so - so you must stick with it if you want the results.

Happy Hairless Legs :-)
