Getting Excited....

10 AM
Yay! I've done a little better this week.  I was able to get in a 24 hour deep condition and today I am ready to deep condition again, along with.... wait for it...

Attempting a Flexi Rod Set!!!

First, I'm going to shampoo and condition with Roux porosity control.  Even though my hair is fairly soft and not brittle, it still doesn't feel all that great for some reason.  My new growth is giving me a run for my money!  I did notice improvement after my 24 hour deep condition because my hair was really in a FUNK.  I thought I had completely shook my dry spell, but maybe I haven't? Also, despite my lack of conditioning with heat, I have been pretty consistent with moisturizing and sealing at night.

Earlier in the week, I was able to make a quick run to Sally's and I bought a couple packs of Flexi Rods.  I've been studying on YouTube and I think I'm ready!  I have a few work related tasks to get done, but then it's on to a shampoo, quick condition, maybe a deep condition, and then experimentation with the flexi rods.

The purple pack is 7/8'' thick and the orange pack is 5/8'' thick and they are both 10'' long with 10 rods in each pack.  I figured since my hair is thinner around the outside I'd use the smaller ones there and the bigger ones up top.   Since I only have 20 rods, I'm not exactly sure how big or small mine will turn out, but I have my fingers crossed that it will be cute!

11 AMI've finished shampooing and conditioning with Roux and I'm now a few minutes into my 30 minute DC.  It's been so long since I used it, that I actually forgot how to use it, LOL.  I put my blow dryer on high and I kept wondering why does this thing keep blowing off my head???  Then I said... Put it on medium not high, duh!!!  So now I'm back in action and everything is going well.  I have my next meeting at 2 PM.  So I plan to finish up my hair by 12:30, grab some lunch, and get ready for the meeting.  I'm not going to use heat to dry my hair.  Or I may use my hand dryer to get it started and then let it air dry from there.

11:30 AM
SN - I am really enjoying my DC, LOL.  I don't want to stop at 30 mins... but I am getting hungry... I think I'll stop with the DC, grab lunch and maybe do a few other tasks before rinsing.  Ciao!

2:30 PM
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... is all I can say right now.  I finished up my DC with about 50 mins of heat.  Next I rinsed, did a quick facial, and then proceeded to do my hair.  Getting started was pretty easy.  The orange rods were great to work with and I was moving pretty quickly.  I did use my Motions Foaming Wrap Lotion to set my hair.  The only issues I had in the beginning was that I'd finish a section and then 3 sections later, I'd realized there's a tiny section that I missed.  I'm more than sure I'll have to redo some sections when I finish drying.  As I started to move up, I found that it was easier to use the rods because my hair is pretty much the same length, however, it was more difficult to use the purple rods.  They didn't really "flex" and it was tough to get the hair to stay in the position that I wanted it in.  I'm hoping that I don't have to redo too many of them...

Halfway Done.  I should have used more purple in the back and saved some orange for the front.

Only the front left, and that was VERY tough to do.
Full Head.  I tried to do a side part... We'll see how that turns out.
Overall, it was pretty easy and I think I'm going to enjoy it.  It was VERY similar to doing a straw set, but a lot easier and quicker.   Also, as I ran out of space at the top, that added another level of difficulty.  I attempted a side part in the front and I'm sure it'll be interesting to see how that looks in the end, LOL.  BTW, eyebrows are on the to-do list.  Don't call me out!

6:30 PM
Okay, I've finally finished and yay!  It turned out great!  I was a little concerned at first because a few turned out perfect, a few were a little deformed... but it all blends together and looks great!

I made sure to separate each curl into about 10-20 little curls and I used oil when I pulled them out.  I think I may redo the front and a couple around the top when I go to sleep tonight, but overall - I did a great job!

Now I just need to maintain throughout the weekend and I'll be a happy camper!  I have an event tomorrow and class on Sunday, so hopefully I can keep it going.   8 weeks post, ha!  I'll conquer these 8 weeks and go 10-12 weeks!
