Earlier this year I gave hair pills a try and since I received a coupon in the mail for GNC, I figured it was time to give them a try again, LOL. Since it had been recommended before I went with the GNC brand, Ultra Nourish-Hair.
I've never used a GNC brand before, but the product has received great reviews and it was recommended by a close friend (shot out to Kareisha!). With my coupon I received a 60 day supply for around $12 - $13 which isn't a bad price. I can report that I've used them for about 2 weeks (not the last 2 weeks) and I have achieved a significant amount of new growth, however, I probably have had even more shedding. I know that shedding is okay when on hair pills because the pills cause growth which means you lose some hairs. But I must say I am pulling out hairs left and right. I don't recall experiencing this the last time I took pills. I'm still planning to continue the 2 month supply, but depending on how the next few weeks go, I will not be purchasing again.
On the other hand, I was watching HSN a few weeks back (they happen to catch my attention from time to time) and I caught the tail end of Andrew Lessman Healthy Hair, Skin, and Nails.
The ladies were raving about this product and it has a ton of great reviews. The formulas are quite different. I'd say that the HSN brand is similar to what I used the first time. Below is a breakdown of a few of the key components:
- Biotin
- HSN - 3200 mcg
- GNC - 1200 mcg
- MSM
- HSN - 800 mg
- GNC -500 mg
- Vitamin C
- HSN - 90 mg
- GNC - 60 mg
- Vitamin B1
- HSN - 5 mg
- GNC - 1.5 mg
- Vitamin B2
- HSN - 5 mg
- GNC - 1.7 mg
- Vitamin B12
- HSN - 5 mg
- GNC - 6 mcg
As for this week, I plan to continue to take the pills and today I did a half day deep condition while I did chores around the house. I'm going to oil my scalp for the remainder of the week and hope to keep my new growth tame. I'm planning to relax sometime around the end of the month since my last relaxer was the week before the 4th of July weekend. During the summer months I've done a great job protecting my hair, however, I haven't really moisturized and sealed often. Now that I'm settled, its time to get better and get back on track!
